Hi, I’m Marie McKay and what I love to do is make quilts and help other people make quilts. I make quilts in all sizes and for all ages. Some of them are made from patterns made by other designers, some are modified patterns, and some I have designed.
I first learned to quilt by hand. By that, I mean hand piecing and hand quilting. That was in the 1980s and I quickly learned that if I wanted to complete more quilts, I would have to do more by machine. Since that time, I have taken many classes at local quilt shops to perfect my piecing techniques and to learn about quilting my quilts.
A few years ago, I became a Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor. This experience has broadened my quilting skills through learning extensive use of the Studio 180 Design tools developed by Deb Tucker. I find them to be some of the best tools available to help me get the results I want. It also broadened my opportunities by challenging me to step out of my comfort zone. I have taught classes in local quilt shops and workshops. I have also had one of my designs, “Fun With Fours” published in the March/April 2021 edition of Love of Quilting magazine.
Through my website, blog, and other social media I want to share what I am working on and hope that you will share, too. Happy Quilting!
